7 HACKS TO INCREASE THE OPEN RATE OF EMAILS

Email hacks can help you to increase open rates and it becomes an art form over the years. No matter how strong your relationship with the recipient is, you have to fight for precious attention to the inbox every time you send an email. There are a variety of hacks you can use to give your emails a competitive edge to give your post the highest chance of being seen. 

Truth is that, if you send the biggest email in the world then there is a high chance that your email will get ignored. You only have 3 to 4 seconds; that’s how long it takes for the average person to decide whether to open an email or not. That’s why it’s so critical to understand how the deliverability of emails operates and how important it is to create a strong integrity inbox. Understanding the fundamentals will help you get your foot in the inbox and make you invincible by using the right combination of hacks!  

HACK#1-PERSONAL NAME:

Look at any Email in your inbox and see three things: the name of the sender, the subject line and the preview of the email. It’s not a lot to work with, so you have to count every character. 

What do they look like when you send emails to your past customers and potential customers? Will they come from the name of your business or your name? HubSpot finds that a person’s emails have a higher open rate as compared to a business email name.

It’s an old fashion to personalize email subject lines with the name of the sender, but there’s a reason it’s so common: it works. Sherpa marketing conducted a case study in which 7 different email campaigns were tested by A / B.

HACK#3-WRITE SHORT SUBJECT LINE:

50 characters (or fewer) is the general rule for subject line length. While you can, of course, use more, 50 has been proven to be the sweet spot for character count. 

Another thing to keep in mind is that the emails you send will be seen in a variety of formats, including desktop, mobile and any number of email providers/clients. Just be aware that a lot of mobile email tools cut off subject lines at 25 characters, so make them count!

Still not convinced? Just know this: 66 percent of all emails are now opened on mobile devices. You must know how to craft the perfect email subject line for every context.

HACK#4-AVOID SPAMMY WORDS:

In the world of email marketing, words such as free, help, percentage off and reminder can easily trigger a spam filter if you use them in your subject line. Spam means meaning your email will end up in junk mail folders instead of inboxes. 

But if you’re a risk-taker, HubSpot has recently done some work suggesting that SPAM filters might be more contextually conscious than they used to be. They tried a subject line in one of their tests with “free” as the first word. They had a person’s email and reported that they didn’t see any delivery issues. They conclude that you should “be careful about words that trigger spam. Don’t completely avoid them, but use them in a non-spammy way.”

HACK#5-PREHEADERS:

When you see an email in your inbox, the subject line and accompanying text covering the column is called PREHEADER. The actual length varies by the email client, but as an example, Gmail requires you and work for 100 characters. In other words, if you have a particularly long subject line, you can ignore every sample text from the email that exists. 

First, make sure you keep your subject line at a total of 50 characters which will benefit you. It offers you 50 characters to get the user to open your email in a compelling case. Make sure that the subject line also logically flows into the email’s first lines. You want to tell a story about everything, and you want your reader to know more. HACK#6 SOCIAL MEDIA SUPPORT:

Social media work so well in email marketing. Like, when you follow a strong social network, you can rely on that to get more email users.
